Enjoy The Silence
Join us on this 5-day guided 4×4 self-driven expedition where you get to experience remoteness in combination with must-see sights. On this tour we go far and beyond, in fact we explore the interior of the island among other beautiful areas. Scenic stops and short hikes are made throughout the tour. What makes our expeditions special is the fact that we use the back roads as much as possible. Giving us a change to explore many hidden areas in peace.
Day 1
We drive towards the highlands through Þjórsárdalur valley, the route will take us close to Hekla Volcano. We will explore the volcanic area around Hekla and make scenic stops throughout the day. Arriving at our accommodation in the late afternoon.
Day 2
In the morning we head to Landmannalaugar, where we go for a short hike. Bathing in the natural warm river is optional. We aim to be on our way from before the traffic comes, we will drive East following a route that takes us to the South part of Iceland. During the day we will make scenic stops and explore some of the less traveled areas on this route. Arriving in our accommodation in the late afternoon.
Day 3
Today is dedicated to Vatnajökull glacier, we start by driving to the unique Glacier Lagoon and Diamond beach. After enjoying the lagoon, we head back, and stop at Skaftafell. A beautiful area close to the outlet glacier Skaftafellsjökull. Arriving at our accommodation in the late afternoon.
Day 4
On this day we´ll explore the Eldhraun lava field and Laki craters These craters were formed in a catastrophic eruption that happened in the year 1783. During the day we´ll make scenic stops and go on short hikes.
Arriving back at our accommodation in the later afternoon.
Day 5
On this day we return to Reykjavík, and we saved the best for last. Today we´ll be driving through the area just North of Mýrdalsjökull glacier. Following a route called Mælifellssandur, a very scenic route that is hard to describe other than unique. On this route we´ll drive by many interesting sights that we will explore throughout the day. We´ll then arrive in Reykjavík in the later afternoon.
